Trinity Hospital of Augusta Hospital

I first meet Dr. Blaney at the informational seminar back in July. I sat and listened to what he did and the types of surgery they offered. Then I started going to the support meetings and would see him there. That really impressed me a lot to see a Dr. there and also talking with people that had questions for him. I could see that he was a caring dr. Then I was given Dr. Blaney as my dr to do my surgery. I was very pleased with that. He is very informative about the RNY. We had to do a 3 hr class with him on Saturday. He answered question that we may have about the surgery. He also showed us the instruments that he would be using during surgery. He is a caring dr with a good bedside manner. But more important he does a good job doing what he does. He want you to become healthy with the tools he gives you by doing the surgery. He tells you like it is about the risk and lets you decide if they are worth it. In my case he was 100% behind me in doing my surgery. He made sure that I saw my heart dr and a bone and joint dr about my knees and wants to work with my PCP in my aftercare. I would refer Dr. Blaney to anyone that was thinking about having RNY gastric bypass. There is nothing negative to say about the care that Dr. Blaney shows me. the only thing I can say is it took from July to Feb for the paperwork, seeing all the Drs you need to see but in all it was worth the wait. But I look at it this way. I used that time to get healthy and to get my heart healthy for the surgery so it worked out in the long run.

Dr. Blaney is about the most down to earth surgeon you would ever want to meet. My impression of him is that he is a very caring and concerned doctor. He makes sure you know what your options are and even requires you to come in for a one-on-one workshop to make sure you are suited for the surgery you are seeking. He has a very pleasant bedside manner, and he is all about the aftercare. The support group is awesome and is a pleasure to attend. His office staff is very friendly and accomodating. I feel that I could not have chosen a more competent surgeon for my WLS and would highly recommend him to anyone.

My first impression of Dr. Blaney was that he was professional and had bedside manners. He took time to explain the procedure and his staff is excellent. He went over the aftercare and gave me encouragement on how much weight I was expected to lose. Future patients should know that so far he has proven his ability to be a caring physician.

2/2510: I had my first consultation with Dr. Blaney today and I feel confident with my decision to have wls. I felt comfortable even though I'm not a big talker. I really like the fact that he discuss the good and bad of wls and how your eating and exercise affect the amount of weight you lose. What I liked more about his practice versus Dr. Duncan is that Dr. Blaney and his staff are more personable. I feel comfortable with that and knowing that the team at the center is so encouraging lets me know that I can do this. He also likes his patients to read this book call Weightless surgery For Dummies.
7/17/10 3 months post op..I still have no regrets waiting so glad I did.

My first impression of Dr. Blaney was awesome. Very laid back and very easy to talk to and went over everything in detail. We talked for over 40 minutes. I have never been to a doctor that was so easy to talk to and not in a hurry. I had filled out a medical overview with weight information before my visit. He went over that and figured out that I had portion control issues and drank alot of my calories and said he thought I would be great candidate for weightloss surgery since the majority of ot is portion control. My impression of him has gotten even better with every visit. He is real & down to earth. I can't think of one thing that I dislike about him at all. Future patients should be ready for a very laid back Dr. that wears blue jeans every chance he gets. He strongly emphasizes after care and stresses the importance of post surgery seminar attendance. I am just starting the aftercare program and have found it to be very well structured. Dr. B. went over in detail all of the surgical risks as well as gives you all the information to read. The offic estaff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. They are very busy but get back to quickly if you have to leave a voicemail. I would rate him as a 10 all the way. He is very knowledgeable with the surgery and his bedside manner rocks!

Well, my main issue with this hospital, which is limited to my own weight loss surgery, was the nurses I dealt with weren't very sympathetic to the level of discomfort immediately after WLS. I got no help getting on or off the X-Ray table the next morning. They rarely came in to check on me unless I had to be somewhere. And, I dunno, I just felt they general couldn't care less. Thank God for Mom's and Wives.
