I was very impressed with the surgeon and the IMCU staff. However once I got out to the ward I was so disturbingly shocked I wanted to leave ASAP. Being in Kentville hospital for 72 days in 2010, I have become pretty accustomed to hospitals. Victoria General in Halifax has got to be one of the dirtiest places ever. I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible before I risked getting an infection. The bathroom was cleaned maybe once a day, everytime I went to use it I had to wipe down everything with sanitizing wipes. I had a hard time cleaning myself up let alone having to clean a bathroom before I could use it. 4 patients in one room, another WLS patient, a patient with a colostomy that leaked everywhere and someone else who had a cigarette everytime she used the bathroom. If I could have gotten this procedure done in Kentville at Valley Regional Hospital I would have. I hope to never have to be in the Victoria General facility ever again.
