Walter Reed Army Medical Center Hospital
I really could not have asked for anything more. The hospital is old, and the parking is overwhelmed, but otherwise, the experience was awesome. They put a bed in my room so that my mom could stay with me the entire time. My doctors came to see me all the time, and I was well cared for by the nurses.
Parking is a hassle most of the time, but we didn't have a problem on the day of surgery because we were there so early. The nursing staff was excellent and very accomodating. The nurse on duty the day after my surgery actually had several different liquids waiting for me when I came back from doing my barium swallow. It was a very nice surprise since I wasn't able to even swallow any water before they checked my band.
The people at Walter Reed were absolutely unbelievable! They were kind yet upfront and honest, they were attentive past my wildest dreams! I was overwhelmed by how positive my experience with Walter Reed was. The hospital is old, and there are definite signs of this, but aside from that everything far exceeded my needs and expectations. They are in the process of building a new hospital that should be open in the next few years, so even the one 'complaint' I had is being remedied as I type. I just can't say enough!
Dr. Marley and his team are the best. The absolute positively best. He goes way beyond to see to each patients care and needs both before and long after surgery. He attends and participates in all the group monthly meetings. Everyone loves him. He truly is uniquire in his caring and concern and you know its genuine. He and his team go that extra mile. Nutrition and plastic surgery available now to those that qualify after their surgery and weight loss has stabilized, etc.
