Winchester Hospital Hospital
My surgeon (I believe) requests private rooms for his WLS patient's which was wonderful and peaceful. The nurses on my floor (A3) were without a doubt the most wonderfully compassionate, funny and most of professional people I have ever had the pleasure to know. The evening shift (especially Elizabeth & Nancy) were awesome! Constantly checking on me (as did all nurses and CA's) They took such wonderful care and I felt so safe and comfortable at all times. They encouraged pain medication to stay on top of any discomfort, which I really only needed at night. As far as I'm concerned ....for this surgery Winchester Hospital is the place!
This was my first visit to Winchester Hospital. On my first night, I had nurse Ratchett, but I wasn't in need of anything, so it really didn't matter. I found one of the IV nurses to be a vampire, as should couldn't find viens on anyone, but everyone else was terrific. This is a fairly new procedure to the hospital, so the nurses were as interested in learning about how I made the decision to do this as I was to have their support.
Overall, I felt comfortable and taken care of. I wouldn't say I was spoiled by any means, I did take care of myself and had my boyfriend with me most of the time to cater to my needs. I may have had a harder time had he not been there. The nursing staff was short, and forgetful. It took a long time for them to respond to simple requests. This was disappointing. They were also not well informed of the needs of a gastric bypass patient. They had no clue how to care for us
