Dr. Barbier is such a great guy. He's a great cheerleader for weight loss patients. He's very supportive of WLS and he is also very interested in the aftercare. While he admittedly didn't have a lot of experience with Gastric Bypass, he's very interested in the whole process and has, since I've had my surgery, been keeping up with the new information about the procedure and has helped other patients through the process.

It seems to be pretty much across the board that MANY healthcare providers don't know a whole lot about the surgery. This is articularly evident in emergency room personnel. A patient in need of ER care has to be very specific about having the surgery and in many cases, has to educate the attending Dr. on their needs as a patient. Once a dr. finds out you've had the surgery, they're usually very interested and will ask many questions.
