Dr Winkler has been so helpful to me. He has ordered all of my test that will make it possible for me to get the surgery. He is very understanding of the problems we have with weight and does not judge you. He listens and makes sure you understand everything that you will experience pertaining to the surgery. Overall he is a wonderful doctor and would want no other.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Winkler and his associate Dr. Gong for two and one-half years. I also work for the same hospital that they are affiliated with. Bariatric surgery is a rather new field of medicine in Las Vegas, NV and has very limited resources regarding this. I have attended the seminar in Las Vegas for Fountain Valley Hospital in California, Dr. Leport and was impressed with the information provided to my husband and I. Dr. Leport answered many of our questions. I am considering having surgery at Fountain Valley Hospital in California, once my insurance is approved. I have dual insurance coverage. My primary insurance is with the hospital that I work for which it clearly states that it does not cover bariatric surgery, unless there are co-morbidities and that it is medically necessary with recommendation through a primary care physician. I met with Dr. Winkler on 02/24/03 and he was willing to support me in this, for which I am grateful. My secondary insurance for which I am covered by my husband's insurance, Great West does cover bariatric surgery. I am anxiously awaiting to see the outcome.

Dr Winkler is a very caring, sensitive & compassionate man. he shares ur joys, sorrows, ups & downs. if u ask him for the absolute truth he gives it to u, even if it hurts him to do so. i know this first hand because he was the only one of my honey's drs that confirmed our suspicions of cancer without beating around the bush. the look on his face when i asked for his absolute honesty made ME feel bad for HIM. when i told him i wanted wls he couldnt have been happier for me & told me 'i will take very very good care of u'. he has kept his promise. his nurse lisa is the best office nurse i have come across in a very long time. the rest of his staff is made up of wonderful caring people.
