I have taken this vitamins since my RNY 9/16 and have always have excellent labs. Four a day, chewable, orange flavored tablets that you can take with you easily. I do take an iron supplement in addition to this but have not had to take extra calcium, B12 or Biotin. I used to get them from Walgreens.com for $27 bucks but the price has now increased to $31.99. In store the price is higher. Labs don't lie, give it a try!

I've tried every protein supplement imaginable since my gastric sleeve/Lap-Band surgery, and this is the ONLY one that doesn't make me want to hurl. I bought some plain (unflavored, unsweetened) Whey Protein Isolate to boost the protein level, and add a tsp. of orange psyllium powder to both the vanilla and chocolate flavors. This works MARVELOUSLY to add some easily managed fiber to my diet, and to keep me feeling "full" longer. I wish some of the other brands of protein powders tasted half as good as this.

My doctor has me doing 6 servings a day for 4 weeks prior to surgery. I don't care much for the chocolate shake powder, strawberry powder, or the vanilla ready-to-drink, but the others are pretty good, especially when "doctored" with food extracts or Torani SF syrups. Bars: berry & PB chocolate are pretty good, chocolate fudge - not so much. Soups are not exactly wonderful, but definitely palatable, and add a little variety.

While you need to take additional calcium citrate with it, overall it's not bad. It meets the standards set forth by my bariatric center (members of ASMBS) and is economical. I just wish it wasn't needed 4 time a day!

This is a poor choice for gastric bypass patients. After a gastric bypass, we need about 200% of the RDA of most vitamins and minerals, and 4 Optisource only gives you 100% of most things. Therefore, you'd really need to take 8 a day, not 4 like the label says. Also, they contain calcium carbonate, and after RNY we need calcium citrate. We cannot absorb carbonate well at all. These just do not meet the needs of RNY patients.

I was concerned about this product at first because I have heard a lot of people say they didn't like it. I tried all three flavors - vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. I love them all! They are very creamy and sweet. More like a milkshake! I enjoy them.
