They may also cover the DS.  When I had mine in 2009, which was under Medicare and Medicaid, the only two bariatric surgeries Medicare covered were the RNY and the DS.   Many times, state medical coverage is in lockstep with Medicare, at least then it was.

BTW, I'm on Medicare because of disability, which might have made a difference, too.  The DS was to improve my condition, which it has.

medicaid and medicare will only pay at a center of excellence. In indiana the center of excellence are not yet approving the sleeve with these insurances.  It is on a case by case basis.  Director said hopefully by may of 2013 they will pay for sleeve alone. right now rny, ds and band is what is covered.

I wish they had added the sleeve instead of the crap band!  Think of all the revisions they'll have to pay for when that thing starts digging into the stomach tissue!

Did you do the DS with Dr. Inman?  She's my surgeon too!  St. V's or Clarian?

Hi, I'm new to Indiana I moved from Texas earlier this month, I believe I have the "hip plus" and I am wanting to get the DS.  Does my insurance cover it and if yes what are the requirements and waiting period? Thanks for any information in advance.
