My Big, Not As Fat, Mexican Wedding Vacation! (with pics!)

hola OHers! i am back from my 8 day trip to the mayan riviera (for my sister's wedding).
when i went away to the dominican about 2 1/2 years ago, i didn't have a good time. i was so hot and so uncomfortable. i didn't want to participate in any activities (my family went snokelling, scuba diving, etc. and i stayed in my hotel room). i didn't want to wear shorts or a bathing suit.

now fast forward to this trip.. was it ever different!
i logged all of my food the entire trip. (i was at an all inclusive 5 star resort.. food and drink EVERYWHERE. i made really good choices; salmon, cottage cheese, chicken, veggies, fish..)
i walked around the resort in my bathing suit (no cover up or anything).
i wore shorts for the first time in about 12 years.
i went on a trip to coba and climbed a mayan temple! (pics below)
i went swimming in a mayan cenote. when we went to get life jackets, the guy looked at me and handed me a size medium. it fit perfectly!

as some of you know, there was a lot of anxiety for me about being my sister's maid of honour. i was in my mom's wedding party 2 1/2 years ago and i had to get a different dress than my other sisters (the other bridesmaids) and i stood out big time. i hated it. but at my sister's wedding.. i can honestly say i don't "stand out" in the pictures. it was such a good feeling to look through the wedding pictures and not want to delete all of them!

First off let me just say YAY!  And congratulations!  You overcame so many of your past regrets and your worries!  i remember you stressin a few weeks ago about your dress...you looked gorgeous!  And man, those flowers (the orange ones) are phenomenal!  What a great time it sounds like you had!

I think those ruins are Chichen Itza....the ones I too avoided last time I went because I knew there was no way I would make it....I am totally tackling it next time I go!

Way to conquer!!!!  What a great example to show the newbies (and us further out ones to!) of the life that is to come!  INSPIRING!!!!!!

you look just lovely in your bridesmaid dress, but my favourite is the pic of you at the top of the temple.  congratulations!

You look wonderful in those pics and you must have felt like you could do anything after climbing up that temple! That colour green looks really pretty on you. I'm so glad that you had such a great time - thanks for sharing those pics with us!
