Flatouts, yay or nays??

So as some of y'all may have read I have been having trouble eating. Everything makes me nauseated. So I saw flatouts at the store and wondered about them. Something I haven't had, so thought maybe I'd be OK with the taste. The stats on it for the light one is 90 cals, 1.5 fat, 14 carbs which 8 of it is fiber, 9 protein. Cut all that in half cause I couldn't eat a whole one. Thinking like fake pizza crust or wrap it up around meat and cheese. I am in the weight loss stage about 4 months out from surgery, so is this a yay or stay away???

9 grams of protein for 90 calories isn't bad, and that's a good amount of fiber. Just be careful -- while the stats on them seem pretty good to me, I wouldn't eat one myself because I know it would trigger a craving for more bread, and bread is my absolute biggest weakness.

So far I am not craving anything, thankfully!! :) I am "looking" outside the box for new things to try but want it to be healthy and go for the weight loss process.

I'm pre and I eat these. I only get the whole wheat ones. It does seem to help with all the fiber. just remember not to keep munching them after you eat your serving.

I eat them every day. I could see it could be a gateway drug for some, so be careful.

At 4 months out, honestly, I'd say nay. I know you are having a tough time finding foods, but I think starting on those so early could really be asking for trouble. If you felt like you needed to try them, I'd start with a quarter, not a half.

While I wouldn't say never, at 4 months it is not something you should be eating on a regular basis.... so I don't really think it is something that is going to help you with the 'trouble eating'... When I buy things like that I keep them in the freezer. So I am not tempted to eat them daily...

I will look into other options! I don't plan on eating them everyday or anything but with still losing weight I can wait!! Not a big deal, thanks for the weigh ins though. I will stick with my protein shakes for now till this "food adversion" stops!

I agree with NYMom. If you can limit yourself to an every-now-and-then, and freeze the rest, then yes. I have done that with the "high protein" English muffins. I have only had 1.5 of them since I got them a few weeks ago! I was worried that I might crave them and finish the whole package if I bought them...but I found it was so much work to chew and swallow them that I don't even want the hassle, right now!

I take a half of one and toast it in the toaster over so it has more of a cracker consistency, and then put a tbsp of pizza sauce or pesto on it along with cheese and turkey pepperoni; then back in the toaster oven under broil. It's a mini pizza. I didn't have them until maybe 8 months out. Perhaps try looking at the menu thread and finding interesting low carb and high protein ideas. I'm always learning ideas and recipes from there:)
