Good morning Friday Crew!

Daze--that is a super strange collection of food you got there... Peppermint almonds sound like the worst thing I can imagine eating. It's really good? Ew. But go ahead and send me over some of that Smartfood! YUM!

I am SO excited that it is 2 weeks until Christmas! I am not going to spoil a big surprise but I have some pretty awesome Christmas plans and I can't wait! Plus...a whole week off! Yessssss. Tonight I am getting into the Christmas spirit and going to a family tradition. We go to a gorgeous Gothic cathedral at a fancy private school in the area for a beautiful Christmas concert. Poor Grim has to dress up. What a sport! But they'll be Christmas cookies at the end, so it should all be worth it.

My first pic is Grim, stringing up our new IKEA Christmas Star that will be hanging over the mantle. So pretty, right?

And second pic sums up one of my biggest pet peeves, perfectly for the QOTD. I hate the gender norming constraints that people give to kids!

I think my other biggest pet peeve is around the word "empowering" for women (hence my screen name). Seriously, I hate it. Women are "empowered" when they dress up. Or dress down. Or get a breast exam. Or go to work. Or stay home. Argh. Now, apply the same statements to men and see how silly it sounds. Men, are you "empowered" when you dress down by wearing a t-shirt and jeans? Or get a prostate exam? It's not empowering--it's belittling. DON'T GET ME STARTED.

I am only working a ½ day, today and the rest of the time I am at the condo with only whatever food is in the freezer, so this is a weird menu.

B: 6 Chicken Lollipops from Trader Joes & Coffee

S: 2 Babybel Cheese

L: 2 Turkey Meatballs from Trader Joe's

D: 3 oz Eggplant Cutlets

S: Christmas cookies, because... dammit it's a holiday tradition!

OK, so Grim is cute and all (and the star is fabulous for sure!), but that second picture made me laugh out loud at my desk, then shake my head, thinking YES, YES, YES! THIS EXACTLY!

I may have to steal that and post it on FB. Epic.

Totally agree with your "empowering" pet peeve. After watching the election coverage this year,  I am super depressed of the level of sexism in this country.  I had to check the calendar to make sure it was 2016.  Shameful.

Another miserably cold day in Illinois--16 as I type this. Lily and I will do our 3.2 miles after lunch today just like we did yesterday. Yesterday it was 22 then so yes we did walk/run really fast. I have a rheumatologist appointment this morning so get to leave in a few minutes to head to St Louis. Then I have an appointment this afternoon to get my hair colored. I can't stand gray roots as it makes me look even older than my saggy skin. Some days I  look in the mirror and see my mother. And that's not necessarily a good thing. Post op 4 years 3.5 months and weight at 117.8 today. Here's the eats for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz delicious homemade meatballs left over from supper last nightand 1/2 c green beans. Hubby took me to an Italian restaurant that was new to us. I had homemade meatballs with homemade cooked for hours meat sauce and it was heavenly. And even better there was enough left for lunch today. D 31/2 oz pork steak 1/2 c green beans S P3 Pak. Pet peeve is people *****tell stories hundreds of times. Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices !  Picture of my outfit today to follow.

Thanks! I really need to swap some clothes with Goodwill. I've been wearing the same things for 3 winters now and I am sick of them all!

It definitely would not have been in my wardrobe before weight loss surgery. My colors then we're maroon, navy and black and nothing with any embellishments of any kind. I love color now though and rarely wear black or navy.
