Good morning! I'm happy to say that the scale is 9 pounds lighter this morning than last Monday. I've been off carbs for a week and though I'm sure a lot is water weight, it is good to feel lighter all around.

I swam laps for 30 minutes this morning. Vitamins taken. Water bottle full.

Qotd: Centrum chewables, WM calcium citrate, WM B12, iron I buy on Amazon.

B: none

L: chicken salad, red bell pepper

No way all 9 pounds is water! Good job!

It always amazes me how much trouble a 'few' carbs can get us in. I bet you're feeling better overall as well!

Keep on keeping on!

Morning Menu Peeps!

I had a great weekend filled with Senior night on Friday, horseback riding on Saturday, and generally just enjoying my lazy Sunday! My big NSV on Saturday was when my saddle broke mid trail ride and we had to regroup. Because my daughter is such a good rider, she went bareback on her horse and I used her saddle... my teeny tiny daughter's saddle fit me! I rode, in comfort, in her saddle for another 2 hours... it was most awesome! Nevermind that when my saddle broke, I fell. I wasn't hurt, and was able to bounce right back up!

QOTD: I'm no help. I use the patches, and when I went to the auto ship, I ended up with an extra pack sent just like a week after my other pack, so I always have an unopened pack under the bathroom counter waiting for me.

Accountability - Not a perfect weekend by any means... stress ate popcorn at Senior night (I totally broke down over my daughter growing up on me!) and there were Cheetos at the trail ride on Saturday.... and they went right in my belly. Sunday I regrouped and did OK.

How did your saddle break?

We were trotting along a path and when we went right, my cinch strap just broke (leather)... then because the saddle didn't come right off the horse (like I did LOL), he went ballistic bucking and running around, and somehow got my stirrup caught up in something and that broke as well...

It was an older saddle, but a good one. I guess I didn't keep the leather oiled well enough. Unfortunately it was a long walk back to the trailer and I left pieces of the saddle behind. I probably won't get it fixed and will just find a new (used) one to love. I don't ride that often anyway.

I'm glad you weren't hurt! Leather can get very brittle with age.

I've been thrown many times, and twice a horse fooled me (I was a kid) into thinking I had the strap cinched good and tight, when actually he had just puffed his belly up. So the first time, the saddle slid 20 degrees to portside as we cantered! But at least it didn't break. The second time I was with a group, walking single file through the woods, when the horse in front of me (a behemoth named Tiny) kicked over a hornet's nest. Her horse took off, with her screaming bloody murder, then mine reared and shot off like a bat out of hell! I felt something slap my arm, hard, but it was all I could do to hold on. I rode just about hanging off the side of the horse, both hands holding onto his mane for dear life, as the saddle had slipped off of his back. What a crazy ride! And in the woods, too, with branches everywhere! I had the idea i could catch Tiny because the girl riding him was inexperienced and had been petrified from the start - I had the half-baked notion I would be able to save her. But she made it, and my horse caught up to her and Tiny in the meadow. I almost certainly wouldn't have been able to stop Tiny anyway - I was only around 9, after all. The slap on my upper arm that I'd felt turned out to be multiple stings. My arm was very swollen! I don't know for sure, but I'll bet that other girl never rode again. What an intro to horseback riding she'd had! As for me, it didn't deter me in the least. I really just was crazy about horses, and still find them to be the most magnificent of creatures.
