I just wanted to share that I found out that what people say here about reversing diabetes is true.

I had my 3-month labs done this week and my AC1 levels have gone from Pre-Diabetic to "Decreased Risk of Diabetes". YAY to VSG!

- October 2010:
6.1% or so (Pre-Diabetic)
- Jan 10 2011:
5.9 % (lowered before surgery due to no-carb diet)
- May 05 2011:
5.40% (3 months post-op)

REFERENCE RANGE:
< 5.7%       DECREASED RISK OF DIABETES
5.7-6.0%     INCREASED RISK OF DIABETES
6.1-6.4%     HIGHER RISK OF DIABETES
> OR = 6.5%  CONSISTENT WITH DIABETES

yay I beat the diabetes monster! awesome feeling of getting healthier and taking control of my life!
I know it should be so obvious that we are what we eat... but it now became obvious in a way that there is no denying. to be honest, I still eat carbs, I just try to keep it really low, specially compared to the huge quantities I ate before.

I just gave you a high five !!!

Although I have never had a problem with diabetes, my whole desire to have wls was for my arthritis - and to be able to get knee replacements. It amazes me how I was able to rationalize all those years that my obesity was NOT the reason for my severity of my arthritis .....

Getting healthier, reversing years of damage to our bodies...THAT is what this is all about !! I am so happy for you, you are going to beat diabetes ! How incredible is that ??!!
