Hi all,

Can you get a surgery date before you get your insurance approval? I will be ready to submit my insurance packet on July 5. But I really want to see if I can get a date set before summer is over August 22.

Not sure about your surgeon's office but mine did. We set the date when we submitted to insurance but it only took them a few days for approval. I had a 2 week window just in case but I knew my insurance (oxford) has a fast turnover.

Yes, some will pencil you into the surgery schedule prior to approval.

All surgeons do something different. Mine would not give me a date until the insurance said yes. I even tried to beg for a tentative date but no luck. I did get a quick turnaround once insurance said yes though.

I did for my revision only because the surgeon's office knew that my insurance would.  They also have a good relationship with my insurance co.

I have my date for 7/27, and they are just submitting the insurance this week!  good luck, i am really looking forward to having the surgery before the end of summer also.  :)
