Poll: "I wouldn't have considered surgery if I only had XX pounds to lose"
Well I know I have been thinking about it since 2004 since that's when I joined OH lol As far as my weight was probably high 200's then if not in the 300's so I think 100+ would be for me even though now that it's 7 years later I need to lose 215 to get to my goal weight of 150. Oh yeahhhhh it's way past time lol Kerry
I'm not sure a number would have been my deciding factor. My deciding factor is that my knees just can't take it anymore. They were bad before the weight, but now at 31 I've had three rounds of cortisone and two rounds of cartilage injections...in 3 years! Just way too much pain to not do this.
However, if my knees weren't a factor I believe 50 would have done it for me...

I first considered it at 280. I didn't even think of it as an option before, I thought I was just stuck being fat.
Then I lost 45 on OA, and thought I was da bomb.
Then I gained it back plus 25, and thought I'd never function normally again.
I've lost 20 so far, and I can feel a huge difference already. That last 20 really slowed me down. I had pillows for legs, and walking any distance I'd get out of breath and my lower back was killing me.

I remember thinking at some point in my life that if I was 100lbs overweight, then I would be a candidtae for surgery. But at that time in my life I did not know that I would eventually end up there! The real factor that sent me to the doctor to look at my options was a plane ride where I could not buckle the seat belt. The whole time I was thinking "this happens to other people" but it was happening to me!
