Yay that is so exciting I am so jealous! I am waiting to hear from insurance then I will get my date!

The pre op diet just shrinks your liver. The liver is in the way of the stomach and the Dr. has to go under it to perform the surgery, so it is safer (in most surgeons opinions) do have the liver smaller. I mean, you could do your own preop diet if you want? but if the surgeon doesnt recommend it then no harm done.

yay!! My surgery is Feb 2nd. Jealous that you don't have to have a pre-op diet ;) I have to have a pre-op diet and I am more scared of that than the surgery itself :(
