 Hey guys!
I am 3 days post op and I know that I am suppose to be getting in 48 oz of fluid each day and  I am having the hardest time. So I am wondering if any of you did get in 48oz right after surgery and how you went about doing it? I have got myself on a schedule trying to do 4 oz an hour but between than and the meds that are liquid my little tummy feels so full all the time.( I miss the IV from the hospital) I don't want to get dehydrated though and end up back in the hospital. Curently, I got in 11 oz yesturday and I've gotten in 8 oz thus far today...It's been uncomfortable but I am trying. Any suggestions?

Just keep trying.  It will get easier every day.  I doubt that very many people ever get in the amount of fluids they should until the swelling goes down.  And everyone ends  up with a different sized sleeve and a different amount of swelling as well.  Vary the temp of what you are drinking.  Some find warmer easier.  Good Luck

It was at least a month for me to get 48 oz.  But I tried very hard to get over 20 ounces, then later more in the first month.  Dehydration is a major reason for post-op people going to the emergency room.

So make it an hourly job to do your best.  Set a goal for each hour.  Or set a goal for each block of 30 minutes.

Try room temperature water, try crystal light.

You are on track to beat yesterday. Try for 20 ounces tomorrow.

Getting all the required fluids in the beginning is a major difficult issue. I had zero problems with popsicles (sugar free or pedalite).  I tried the pedalite since they had electrolytes.

Good luck!

Warm/hot liquids went down easier for me like chicken broth. I actually wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I could get in 48 ounces or more (and farted) I sipped every time I moved. Good luck!
