My surgeon said its great protein, but isn't it too hard to digest?  What kind do you all eat?

I absolutely LOVE beef jerky but have been to scared to try it - I am 10 weeks out.

I'm about 8 weeks out and am not getting anywhere near the protein I need to be getting. I love beef jerky, but am also afraid to try it  lol

I'm 15 weeks out and always have beef jerky around. I usually buy mine from Costco. I buy the Prime Rib, a little pricey but worth it!

why would it be any harder to digest post op as pre op? you have the same functioning stomach, just smaller,so the amount of jerky you eat will be smaller and it will be processed just the same.

I eat tons of it! Beef jerky and turkey jerky...I know GNC has other meats too. I find turkey easier, but I can eat a whole 3.5 oz bag at a movie or something.

It's a great source of protein eat it up! Beef, turkey, sodium is pretty high so ck the label for the lowest.

Jerky just needs to be chewed very well. I tend to limit jerky, because it is high in sodium, and I look for varieties that are lower in sodium and don't contain nitrates/nitrites.

There are also recipes available, so that you could make your own, if you were so inclined. That way, you would know exactly what the jerky contains.

I'm not sure that I could have tolerated jerky at 8 weeks. I don't think, I had any jerky, until I was about 5 months out, but I was behind the curve, due to complications early on.

I like the 365 brand peppered turkey jerky at Whole Foods is pricy, but the flavor is really good and the sodium is the least I have found.
