Bowel Movement
I would say call the surgon's office and ask.
If you had a two week liquid diet before surgery and only liquids since surgery there really shouldn't be too much to pass other then air, and as long as that is working and you arn't all cramped up I would think you would be ok. BUT I'm not a doctor. Good Luck!

Please take my advise and get with your doctor. I had a terrible constipation episode into my second week in which I thought gas and a little discharge meant I was doing OK - I wasn't. See what you Dr. thinks, and if you are not passing anything see if they are OK with you taking colace or something similar.

I didn't have a BM until Day 7 after surgery. My surgeon said that was normal since I really wasn't putting much in. I never experienced diarrhea. Starting at Day 7, I've had a normal (smaller than they used to be) BM everyday.

I had the same issue, even though I had been on a liquid diet pre-op, etc. In fact, I never had the watery stools so frequently spoken of in the liquid phase. I called my doc at day 5 and he advised Milk of Magnesia. I would do the cherry, mint is horrible. I am a nurse and this is what we most commonly give post-op pts in the hospital. I would try a half dose at first and push the fluids. If that doesn't work within 24 hours, take a full dose. Miralax is great for maintenance and "keeping things regular" but I don't find it that effective if it's been several days since BM. The most important questions: are you passing gas? Can you hear belly rumbles? Any abdominal/back pain? You should pass gas and hear noise. Silence can be an indicator of a bowel obstruction. As long as all of that is good, I would turn to MOM for a little help and you should be fine :0)

When I had my surgery, the documents recommended I have Miralax available for that reason.
I didn't actually need it but Miralax IS gentle on your system if you do need it.
