Bariatric friendly party recipes....what do you bring VSGrs?
Hi! We are having our yearly Christmas party at work (aka buffet of BAD for you things) and i would like to bring a bariatric friendly dish that I can eat as well as a few others who have had WLS in our department. I am currently on all foods but I really have to watch dense meats and pork is out of the question for now.
What do you all bring for a group party? And if it is complicated can you please share the recipe. Thank you in advance!!
I don't mind the work. I thought cheese and pepperoni tray but idk.....I might do that just seems like the easy way out. I usually make something more. I was thinking meatballs in sauce but i know someone brings those every year.
Baby cheesecakes. Make it with Light greek yogurt, sugar free jello pudding, and top with a raspberry or something like that. For the crust I ground up Kays Naturals cinnamon protein cookies. It really was a good substitute and the nutrition profile made it bariatric friendly, low in cals, and goo protein :0) I will go see if I can dig up the recipe, but it is posted on here somewhere. Edit: When I made this before I used the Fage plain fat free yogurt and sugar free cheesecake pudding mix. I think the ratio was 1 cup yogurt to 2 tablespoons mix... but check Eggface to see if she has a recipe posted. I thought I loaded it in mfp, but I didn't.

This one sounds like a winner! I have all the stuff (except I'll probably do crustless), but I haven't made it yet. There's an eggface recipe similar to this, I think. I'd do a ground pecan crust, but nuts are out a little ways yet!
The other thing I thought of was pulled pork (or chicken or brisket). Make it in the crockpot and take little slider rolls.
Or, get lower fat "little smokies" at trader joes or Whole Foods - I can't recall where I bought them before. No nitrites, uncured, really good! I made pigs in a blanket with them - you could do that, and just eat 'em nekkid! I mean without the blanket, not you being nekkid at the party!

I use the brown sugar splenda and you can wrap them the night before and use turkey sausages. You can use turkey bacon too if you're so inclined.
3. Costco sells pre-cut smoked salmon squares and English cucumbers. Peel and cut the cukes in slices and take a piece of salmon lay it on top, top with fresh dill. Red & green.
4. Costco also has lump crab meat, drain and dump 1 pound mix with 1/2C of light mayo or mayo substitute, salt, pepper, minced onions, minced celery, cayenne pepper to taste. This can be made ahead and stored in the fridge. When ready to serve take a butter lettuce leaf and put 2T of the crab mixture on top of the lettuce. Top with 1 slice of avocado, top avocado with 1/2 - 1 tsp of ****tail sauce. People will eat these like tacos. Soak the avocado slices in small amount of lemon juice so they don't brown.
yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well ladies and gents i got two premade cheese balls and some crackers. At least i can eat the cheese :)
Thank you for all the suggestions :)
