Where does everyone go to figure out how many calories they have burned during a strength training workout or even just house cleaning???

In  MFP, go to "Exercises"

Then choose "database"

Then look at the dropdown menu.  It has a lot of choices.  Cleaning is definitely one of them!

I use a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) that tracks exactly how many calories I burn. If you are going to use My Fitness Pal it estimates the burn a bit higher than a HRM. As long as you aren't eating your calories back you can be fine with that... the more weight you lose though the more you have to workout to burn the same amount of calories.

Just remember that those things are including your base calories. So it's not how many extra calorie you've burned over sitting and watching tv. It's how many total.

This isn't so important in WL mode but in maintenance you can get into trouble if you try to eat them all "back" because some of them are already accounted for in your daily allotment.

I use Body Media, which is rather expensive...and you have to buy a subscription to go with it. It monitors how many calories have been burned and charts the calories by time of day they were burned. Pretty cool and amazing technology.

I also use MyFitnessPal, but I only count real workouts and try not to eat those calories back.

Or, that's how I WAS doing it until all hell broke loose with my spinal issues. LOL
