First month weight loss question...

Hello Everyone!

I am one month out from surgery. The first two weeks I lost weight very rapidly - approximately 23 lbs.  The second two weeks I stayed the same and bounced two pounds up and down.  I am wondering if there is anything I am doing wrong or if this is a stall. I did not get a lot of protein in the beginning stages due to a liquid diet and a milk intolerance.  Any suggestions to get this weight loss going or is this just a stall and I need to be patient? Thanks so much!

Seems common.  Most people don't lose steadily throughout the entirety of their weight loss.  Lots of people experience stair step losing.  Stick to your plan, you'll be fine.  (I.e., lots of fluids and protein.)

I am just 2 months out and am down 29lbs.  I keep seeing others post that they have lost so much more in the same time period, but I keep reminding myself I am on track.  My surgeon told me the average person is down 40lbs by 3 months out and that I should lose about 10 lbs a month.  I know once I started the semi and regular diet, my weight loss really slowed down, but that makes sense as you would lose more and lose faster on the liquid and soft diets.

Just stick to your new eating habits--avoid sugar and most carbs--exercise and it will continue to come off.  :). I know some weeks it is frustrating to not see the scale move much, but you could be losing inches then instead.

I've done the same thing. Thanks to all the advice here on OH I was prepared for the stall. Yet, it still amazes me how our larger bodies that were losing a pound a day can just stop losing as we eat so little and become more active. I can see a day or two, but this 2 week thing is frustrating. I also lost 23 lbs in ~17 days, then 2 lbs in the next ~13 days. I've lost a pound each of the last two days. Might be at that point I need to hide the scale and just go based on how my clothes fit.

I am only 2 weeks out but my Nut told me to expect a larger loss the fist month then the 2nd and maybe even the 3rd but by month 4 should be losing steady again. She said it is do to the bringing in of reg food and the increased exercise since I will be gaining Muscle and it is heaver than fat. Hope this helps Good luck
