I don't understand liquid

That's a great real time example of liquids going through an open pyloric valve at the time when the sleeve is about it's smallest.

The other way to think about it is pouring liquid into a funnel with a 3-4oz. capacity (by volume) and the funnel has a opening at the bottom that is about the diameter of a dime.

So am I understanding that it is impossible for us to drink too much?

You don't want to drink too fast, because it does take time for the water to get out of your stomach. It happens fairly quickly, but you don't want to chug a big glass.

I think the understanding part about "liquids" as it pertains to VSG life is to understand why, when, speed and amount.

The amount of fluids you should consume daily should come from your doctor, 64oz. minimum per day is a common number.

When you should consume fluids is always best with an open pyloric valve so you don't create any back pressure.(discomfort)

A typical normal unaltered stomach will empty in about 90 minutes and our sleeves will typically clear in about half that time.

I normally resume drinking in 1-2 hours and I drink all the way up to the minute I start to eat. (Stopping fluids 15minutes prior to a meal is a good practice or what ever number your doctor recommends)

We all should eat and drink "slow" WLS or not, but us VSGers need to eat and drink slower.

Hope this helps !
