You would think after all this time I would have been prepared for the pain...
Hello everybody,
Over 2 years ago, I joined OH as I was waiting on a surgery date for the sleeve. Long story short, insurance denied and life managed to create many delays. I finally got my sleeve 2 days ago! I'm only on clear liquids for the first week. I knew I might have nausea and difficulty getting in liquids at first. I was not prepared, however, for the amount of pain I'm experiencing :( The nurses in the hospital said it was gas, but this is not only gas. I am having what feels like a charlie horse in my stomach. It hurts bad enough to make me sit up straight out of a deep sleep. I'm hoping this is normal and will pass. Between that and the gas pain, I'm having a pretty awful time. My gallbladder was taken out awhile ago, or I would have blamed my gallbladder for some of the pain.
Can you please tell me about your first week - Did you suffer anything similar? When did it stop?
Nan
Are you taking your pain killers and walking as much as possible? A heating pad might also help.

you need to talk with your surgeon that much pain is not a normal amount and you need to check there is no problems , they may need to do a ct or a leak test to make shore there are no problems like a twist or a leak
I was on Tylenol after 2 days and no pain pills after 4
you may need a different pain pill
for gas pain a hot towel works wonders and lots of walking
Boy do I understand. The first night at home I told my husband that I thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life but then by the third and fourth day, I felt human again. I never thought that gas could be so painful, the pain was in my chest and shoulders. It's been 8 weeks and it gets SO much better. Good luck, the worst is over.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I think today is actually better than days 1 and 2. I have my followup appointment on Monday. If it is still bad i will let him know. My doc does a test for leaks while in the hospital. The gas is still painful but the spasms are much less frequent, and those scared me the most. I just never recalled anyone complaining about really bad pain, so I was wondering if it's just me. I'm glad there are others out there who had the same problem and are over it now :)
