Trying not to worry...
Ok, Im trying not to stress but I had my sleeve done on Monday, 12/8, and came home on wednesday. I had lost 5 lbs while in the hospital. Since being home I havent lost even an ounce. Ive been getting at least 60 grams of protein and somewhere between 50 and 70 oz of water a day. Some days are better than others. The first couple days i walked around the yard a few times and just rested but the past couple days ive been pretty active. Dont have a place to do any organized walking yet but plan on joining the YMCA this week so i can use the treadmill. Am i doing something wrong or should i just be patient. My husband is more worried than i am as he had gastric bypass years ago and has always insisted that its the best and i should have went that way. Hope hes wrong...
This is totally normal. Keep walking and sipping, get your protein and liquids in. Stalls happen, weight loss never happens as quickly or steadily as any of us would like :)

Think of it as normal fluctuation, then.

This is not a stall. Your body has been through major surgery. It is trying to heal by holding on to whatever it can to balance things out. With only a liquid diet, your calorie intake is a fraction of what your body is use to. You are probably still holding the fluids pumped into you during surgery, as well. Stick to your surgeon's meal plan and everything will pan out.
Hi JG ~
I had my sleeve done on the 8th as well and like you the scale hasn't dropped an ounce. My surgeon told be that we may even gain a couple of pounds during our hospital stay because of all the fluids they drip into you before surgery and the gas they pump you up with during surgery. He asked me to stay off the scale till I see him on Monday afternoon but just couldn't do it:) I'm like you, I don't have anyplace that I can really take a good walk so hubby has been driving me twice a day to our local department store. I've got the cart to hang on to and I'm now up to 6 laps around the whole store. And the store is big. So I'm good in that regard. I absolutely don't think your doing anything wrong. I believe we have wanted this so bad for so long that we want the pounds to just melt off. They will in time ~ BE PATIENT :) Kim
I am hoping this makes you feel better:) I came home 10 pounds heavier than I went in from all of the gas they use to as well as the IV fluids. My doc told me not to even weigh until 2 weeks after surgery because it can take that long to get out of your system. Once it is out the weight will stop dropping. Good Luck!
Fluids, gases and your body is still traumatized. There will be inflammation and all sorts of physiological/chemical changes that will take a few weeks to normalize. Be patient and stay on the path. I just had mine on 12/9 but still on clear liquids. Sounds like youre doing great ith your intake. I have not been able to get more than 32 ounces of fluids in. So you are doing great!
Thanks everyone! My surgeon never said anything about not weighing. As a matter of fact he told me several times that i didnt have any gas and i just looked at him weird but i definitely know what gas feels like. Im sorry other people are not losing either but i am glad that im normal. Thanks again!
No worries. I was up over 20 pounds after surgery and it took a couple weeks before it started dropping. Then it keeps dropping. Looking back now, all the worrying I did early on was all in vain.
