How many of you have experienced yellow stool and how long did it last ?

I've researched this and apparently it is very common with Bariatric surgery.

Any side effects that anyone has had because of this?

Sorry for the disgusting topic.

No worries...It's not disgusting, it's life.  You get a LOT of informative info on OH.  I'm almost 2 weeks out and mine is dark green.  You'd think I was eating spinach.  Give it time and I'm sure we'll get right back to normal:)

BorderCollieMama, I don't want to raise an alarm for you, but dark green stool is sometimes a sign of bleeding.  You might want to call your surgeon, to check!!

Yellow can be a sign of excess bile - your liver is producing the same amount even though you have a smaller stomach so you could be excreting the excess.  When in doubt, call your doctor.  But it's definitely not harmful.

I have GOOD NEWS for those that are interested.

After doing some research ...... I discovered WHY this was occurring.

Yes, malnutrition is part of it, the solution was very simple.

All of my life I've never needed or had taken a daily vitamin, nor B12, nor calcium.

After my surgery .... for several months I took the daily vitamins that the Doctor had prescribed. I had slacked off in the last 2-3 months to where I went back to my old ways of NOT taking the daily vitamins.

For the last 3 days, I have been taking double the daily doses of vitamins and this morning I can say that I am back to normal and back on track.

The FEARS of Pancreatic disease or LIVER disease (Internet research) caused me to schedule a doctors appointment. Yesterday morning after seeing a slight color change, I cancelled the appointment and just decided to go through the weekend to see if the vitamins were the reason .... if the same problem continued, then I was prepared to re-schedule a doctors appointment on monday.

All I have to say .... TAKE your daily vitamins

In my case, I am back to normal. Hope this helps anyone with Yellow stool.
