I Need a Bit of Understand/Motivation
After 2 years of researching the sleeve and a diabetes mishap I decided on the sleeve. I know I put on 337 pounds and it is my fault and it is not going to fix itself overnight. On 9/11/14 I had my first visit to my surgeon and also met with my NUT who advised me of some things to do in order to prove to myself that I was really serious---walking from farther parking spots, drinking coconu****er and water, etc. I did those things and managed to lose 15 pounds from 9/11-12/12. My pre-op liquid diet started December 15th and on the day of surgery (12/29/14) I was at 309.5. One week post op I was 303. Tomorrow is my 1 month surgiversary and I am at 291. I am walking 5 days---anywhere from 1/2 mile to 1.2 miles, depending on how I feel. My next appointment is 2/3/15 and I fear they will think I have not lost enough. I keep seeing 22-24 pounds on here for the first month following surgery and I have only done 18.5 pounds since I was sleeved. I do not intend to whine, just looking for support. Is 118 more pounds possible for me?

It is absolutely possible. It is really easy, especially in the early days, to compare yourself to everyone else on the boards. Try not to do that. You are a unique individual and your body is going to lose at the rate that is right for your body. This is your journey and no one elses. You have lost 18.5 lbs in a month. That is great! That's over 4 lbs a week. That should make you feel good.
If you follow the plan, the weight will come off. I think everyone has unrealistic expectations of how much weight will be lost each week; i know that I have struggled with that myself. when I look at it by weekly average though it is good. Welcome to the boards and keep up the good work!
I had a large pre-surgery weight loss, just like you did, and didn't lose as much the first few weeks as others I read aout. Folks here told me, and the NUT confirmed it, that many times if you have a big loss prior to surgery, the initial few weeks after surgery you may not lose as much, but it evens out after that. You've done great!!!!
Well, I started at 319 and I've lost about 130 now. I plan on losing about 70 more pounds, so it better be possible :)
You'll keep losing as long as you stay dedicated. The loss will slow as you reach a normal weight, but you will reach your goal eventually if you stick with it.

Hi Lynn. I've been thinking about you. We had surgery the same day. I am losing slowly right now, too. I saw my surgeon last week and he was happier with my progress than I was. I actually weighed more after my surgery so had to lose that as well. You are getting more exercise than I am! Good job on that. Keep the faith, this is a marathon not a sprint!
