Kelly Help! Injection question.

I did something wrong with my last vit B injection.  I don't know if I didn't go deep enough.  When I pulled out the needle it bled a little (never has before).  But the site was swollen like the fluid wasn't going anywhere. It;s not swollen any more but there is a bruise about the size of the top of a soda can.  My concern is that I might not get the full benefit of the shot, and I want to make sure I don't do whatever I did again.  It also hurt, and hasn't before.

I'm not Kelly, but I do inject my B12 and I am a nurse who has done tons of injections. Sounds like you may have hit a small blood vessel when you injected, hence the bruise. But you will get full benefit as the B12 absorbs. It may or may not happen again- probably won't.

Your rear end is fine- upper outer quarter.

Thanks for the replys.  The bruise is still there and a pretty dark purple, but no more yellow. I realy didnt get much instruction, I was just told to stick the needle in my stomach.  I am never sure how deep to go.

You should not have been prescribed an injectable without instruction - sheesh!   It would have taken someone 10 minutes to give you instructions and what not to do's ...

Kelly has had no medical training and so is probably unable to answer a question like this - I don't think she even does her own injections!   If you just post a general question, one of the myriad of trained nurses and medical staff on here will be able to help you better!

The nurse was like Oh it's so easy you just stick the needle in and push the plunger.  I was a little scared but didn't want to seem stupid.  It did go fine the first couple of times.  A warning about what could happen would have nice. That is a bad habit of mine to just say ok to whatever the doctor or nurses say, and not ask questions.
