 WLS peeps are at increased risk of transfer addictions like alcoholism.

I believe it...  I struggle with the same thing myself.

 I posed an LOL cat but that doesn't mean I don't take it seriously - I do mean it when I say beware!

I USED to be of the mind set that "cross addiction", such as alcohol/sex/shopping, etc were just EXCUSES to drink/cheat/spend/etc....but...

Some of my closest friends have had some true problems with alcohol..so my "thinking" has changed... Alcohol is not MY "addiction of choice"..I still have my FIRST addiction---FOOD---but can now see how a TRUE cross addiction CAN happen...

Of course, I ALSO know peeps who use the PHRASE "cross addictions" as an EXCUSE, to do what they want...guess there will always be all kinds of peeps...

This is very real. I got caught up in alcholism , I was placed in rehab & was hospitalized twice. . 80% of the people in the rehab facility had gastric bypass surgery for pain meds and/or alcohol. So newbies beware. It doesn't happen to everyone but can happen quickly. It didnt happen to me until 6 months ago and I'm 2.5 yrs out. I still struggle but I've been doing good by trying to focus on excersize instead of the bottle.
