Walking 30-45 minutes every day?

Or 4-5 miles (1-1 1/2 hours) 3 to 4 times a week?

I would try to fit in both...Do the long walk 3-4 times and alternate with the shorter one...Some type of "exercise" is important every day if you want to succeed in maintenance once you get to that point...

I'm with MM, whichever one you are more likely to do and enjoy, and fits into your lifestyle, is the one that you will more likely follow through with.  Anything that you follow through with will be to your advantage.
