How long did it take you to get approved? (bc/bs highmark) rny

I just finished the longest six months of my life. I was told my surgeon's office is submitting my paperwork to my insurance company tomorrow.  How long did it take for you guys and gals to get your approval?  I swear I feel like I am going to start hyper ventilating soon.  If I could afford it, I would quit my job and work at the surgeon's office as a patient advocate and be really nice to patients through this process.  I will definitely be paying forward on here once I have something to pay forward.

I had Anthem BCBS and it took 24 hrs. But I didn't have the 6 month appts/diet as a pre-requisite.

Each state is different (BC/BS of California takes about 5 business days, but BC/BS of New York takes 15 business days). Even though I work in California, I found out that my BC/BS is out of New York, so I was quoted the 15 business days. On the 11th business day, BC/BS finally told my surgeon's office they still needed one more letter from my PCP (UGH!). That was provided to BC/BS on the 13th business day. I got my approval on the 16th business day.

I have Blue Care Network (HMO thru Blue Cross Blue Shield of MI) was told it could take upto 14 days, got it on the 4th day.  Scheduled for surgery Thursday, 9/12/13.

Good Luck, be patient, it will happen.

My insurance had up to 30 days to respond, but I got the call on day 10! I had to wait the six months too, but my surgery is this Thursday so it has all been worth it!!!
