As Kelly said, to lose weight you need to eat less and move more. There is no magic formula.

Keep track of what you are eating-- MyFitnessPal.com is a great way to keep track. When you're aware of what you're eating, it's much easier to make healthy choices. Generally 1600 calories/day is a good number to shoot for.

How much is too much? Do you need to lose 20 pounds? 50? 100?
Losing 20 pounds by diet and exercise is pretty reasonable. Losing, and keeping off, 50+ pounds by diet and exercise is much harder. If you've got 100+ pounds to lose, it's almost impossible. That's why people---most of the people who post here, BTW---have WLS.
