I love my Magic Bullet!  It's compact and it purees just about anything. Pumpkin, lentils, cooked vegetables, cooked apples, ham, tuna, you name it. It comes with two containers, a 2 cup and a 1 cup. I usually pulse it because if you just let it go, it will puree your stuff into baby food.

After reading lots of reviews and Consumer Reports, I went with the Ninja thing -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XK4N9C/ref=wms_ohs_prod uct?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(I had considered the Magic Bullet, but this gets consistently better reviews and rankings.)

I love my Cusinart hand held blender. Wow it is so powerful; easy to clean and stores easily. It makes great protein shakes and purees food easily

Hope that helps
