Repost from RNY forum. Need everyone's thoughts ☺️

Ok. I could say I am on plan day 9 liquid diet going towards my RNY 7/17. Doing what I needed to. Lost 9.5 lbs so far as of today. Despite the nauseau I had.

Until I just had a cup of Lipton Chicken noodle soup an hour ago. The kind you mix from the packet into water. Tiny noodles. I ate the entire thing y'all. 8 oz of it. All I know is that I am going to strain it from now... i tell you what...I have NO more nausea to the point of vomiting. It's tolerable. Got my water AND my protein shake in after drinking/eating that one little packet of "ok" tasting soup with no issues.

I'm not justifying anything whatsoever. Just saying really. I HAVE to be accountable for what I do. I'm not going off plan anymore. I'm just glad I finally can do my protein shakes again without vomiting. Did i did I mess up royally? Do you think I should tell my doc about this?

I think I'm doing pretty damn good considering. :-)

please ser don't be too harsh.

It's a cup of chicken soup, not a chinese buffet or a 3 course steak dinner ...  I wouldn't stress it, personally!

I didn't have to do any pre-op diet (just nil by mouth after midnight) - as many of us don't.   We used to joke on here that pre-op diets were ordered by surgeons who hated fat people, but now they've become more common, they are no longer the joke!

A cup of chicken soup 6 days before your surgery is not going to ruin anything and I don't see any reason to "confess" to anyone!

The pre-op liquid diet was really hard for me as well because of nausea but once I started drinking chicken broth everything was good. I think that I was dehydrated and just needed the salt. I did the liquid diet for 2 weeks but did add an occasional egg to my broth, about 4 total. As I was in the pre-op waiting area I told my doctor that I had some egg with my broth and he didn't seem concerned at all. What I didn't know until a few days later was that when he opened me up and saw my liver he said to himself that I cheated because my liver was so fatty. After surgery he went out to my mother and asked her if I cheated and she said "no". When I found out what happened I told him again that I didn't cheat, and really if I lied it would only be hurting me so who would I be cheating but me so that's just silly. He did believe me. There are people like me who have a fatty liver. I was never thin even as a child I always had a belly. Even when I would eat only protein and work out for hours a day I still couldn't get thin. There are people who are heavy for reasons other than eating. NAFLD.

Thank you for you're reply.  I've already been diagnosed with a fatty liver. So she's going to see that regardless.  I'm not straying away anymore. This second cup of Lipton soup has been strained as of now and I feel much better about it.  ☺️
