Extreme Back & Stomach Pains

Hello New Poster,

I had my GBS on the 18th of this month (August 2014). I am now on Day 7,and right now I have been experiencing sharp pain on my back. I feel it when I do deep breaths. However, not as much when I have support over it. My stomach pains is more felt when I try to sleep (I have not had a full night sleep). It feels like something is in there moving around and attacking me upwards. Both are terrible pains, and the question is, obviously how to quell my intense pain and never let it as severe as it is now?

Also I seen articles and people are saying, it could be gas. Can they be true in any way?

Angel, if you are really concerned about the pain (and it sounds like you are) I would suggest calling your surgeon for advice. Yes, it could be gas - unfortunately the best cure for this is walking it off. Take care of yourself and ask for (medical) help if needed.

Thanks for the reply Karen. I am gonna try some walking outside today to see if that will do anything. I did left my surgeon a message on his machine so hopefully he will contact me soon. Is there other activities I should try?

Walking is best, I have also heard of people using GasX strips to ease gas pain. (I used them myself and it helped a little). Definitely follow up with your surgeons office.

I don't have any informed suggestions to offer as far as the pain goes (I haven't had surgery...yet), but I wanted to say that I am sorry you are in so much pain and hope it goes away soon!
