Hi there,

I have a trip planned to Spain in May 2015.  My RNY is scheduled for Feb 11, 2015.  I feel like there will not be an issue since i can take protein power and must likely get protein drinks, plus can incorporate food that i am comfortable with.  But just wanted to know did anyone do i big trip so soon as surgery.

thank you

Not sure how relevant this is as I am banded. But at two and a half months, I went trekking in an African desert (Kalaharii) for three weeks. We travelled by jeep, putting up our own tents in the bush, cooking done by a Namibian guide over a camp fire - no idea what most of the meat was.

With hindsight, I was stupid!!!!!!!  But the flights were booked so I went! But I can't see why travel to and in Spain woukd be a problem.

But do remember to tell your travel insurance company.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I moved to Singapore for four years, four months after my surgery.  No problems at all.   Spain will be a breeze AND awesome!

I traveled to Brazil 6 weeks post op. No problem, except the first fat I lost was in my butt, and the seats were hard. It was a painful trip. I ended up buying a gel seat cushion for my air travel.

QAJohn, definitely relate, just landed in HKG after 16 hr flight.  I used two pillows in my butt instead of my head.  Had to use the blanket as a pillow....

Need to be careful becasue I've heard of people who've cracked their tailbone on long flights.

Travel safely home, looking forward to hearing about your trip.
