Wow, what an amazing story. I'm glad that you never gave up & have a supportive husband & sister to help you. Life can change so quickly & your story is a reminder of that. Thanks for posting, hope you make a full recovery.
No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another.

I too was in a car accident when I was 19 and lost the use of my right arm. Not because of a brain injury, but because it was crushed. After a few surgeries and months and months in a cast and more in a temporary splint. My arm was completely useless. I had to go through therapy just to straighten it again (it was frozen in that cast position). No one ever tells you how much therapy hurts. But I did eventually get most of my ROM back. That was just my arm. I can't even imagine what it would feel like to have to retrain my whole body. You are in my prayers.

Thank you for you support Crystal...I remember you from the Lap Band board you have been so successful with your band....yes I lost so much that it's overwhelming...I have learned to take one step at a time....early in my recovery...my therapists was concentrating on getting my speech back and learning how to walk again...since I have over came those obstacles.... but I still get weak and have to rest often.... now I am concentrating on my arm...I had a massive stroke a intraparenchymal hemorrhage in the left parietal lobe in the parenchyma....area of my brain that paralyzed the entire right side of my body.... which is deadly if I did not seek prompt medical attention. , the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vise vera...... I type with one hand my left hand (I am right handed) so the stroke affected my dominate side...I had to retire from my career .... I am blessed to be alive....
Wow Naomi! I am so sorry you had to go through this. I am so glad that you are here, healing and making progress. "Life is like a box of chocolates" for sure. We just never know how our paths may change or end. . . . We all had our differences on this forum for years but there is no doubt that I care that we all stay well.
Do you know that we lost English Kate? She wasn't sick and apparently died of a heart attack in her sleep. It was sad and weird because she was still a huge presence on OH.
