Hospital Stay???

My surgeon's minimum stay was 2 nites for gastric bypass and 3 nites for DS.  I stayed 5 nites due to low potassium levels, which had to be monitored before I could be discharged from the hospital.

My Doc's standard is 2 nights for the Gastric Bypass...although I think one night is enough barring complications. The whole insurance approval thing is weird in my book... I had a hysterectomy with some complications so it took 6 hours instead of 2 hours and Sloan-Kettering had to discharge me by 8am the next morning 'officially' so it could still be considered outpatient....although they didn't make me rush out the door... So how they figure this out is anyone's game....

It depends on the hospital and surgeon, I think!  I am having the sleeve and am scheduled for two nights.

Good luck on your surgery!
