How long does the review progress take basically before you're scheduled for an appointment? I had a packet sent to me via email and I sent it back via email on August 7th. I got the response saying they have received my packet and it is in the review progress. Once they have completed the review they will contact me concerning an appointment. When should I call them to see if they reviewed it? I would call them now but I feel like it's too soon for me to call.

It all depends on your individual program. Everyone's hospital/surgeon/program does things a bit differently. The only people who could give you a close estimate would be people who have had the surgery through your specific hospital/program. If you posted that information, there might be people here who were at the same facility and could give you an idea.

And it's never too soon to call. If you want to know, call them. All they can say is it's not done yet, and to call back later.

The standard is usually 30 days to receive an answer. If it's been a week, I would give them a call to make sure they have everything they need. It's a friendly nudge, and a chance to fill any gaps if they exist. Otherwise, they could reject your request based on incomplete information. Then you get to start all over again.

Biggest tip I can give you... be sure to ask them if they have the complete documentation. I faxed in my supporting docs which ended up being like 60+ pages. Well, I got denied. After weeks of tears and questions, I found out - by asking - that they only had up to page 14. They didn't have any of my doctor follow-ups, labs, etc. I re-faxed, followed up to be sure they got all pages and within the hour (literally) I was approved.
