Cologuard?

It's been a while since I was here on the forum. I had a revision a little over two years ago. Anyway, my PCP says I've hit the age where colon cancer screening is recommended. Naturally I picked the "easy" choice of trying Cologuard however I've taken the test 3x and each time they say there isn't enough genetic material to run the test. (note, they are not saying there isn't enough product, just that the product doesn't have what they are looking for.)

Has anyone who has had WLS been successful with Cologuard? And, specifically, I think what's messing with my test is that my revision was for a "long limb" bypass so I have a feeling that stuff doesn't stay in my system long enough to give the test what it wants.

My guy said Cologuard is a complete waste of time.

I just get a proper colonoscopy once every 10 years

I'm beginning to believe that's the path I'm going to take.

I agree with Citizen Kim 100% just get the colonoscopy done. Also, not sure if you know this or not, but if Cologuard does detect something insurance will not pay to have a colonoscopy done because they already paid for the Cologuard and they consider that the colon screening.

I have my first one scheduled for April not overly thrilled about it, but colon cancer runs in my family. I'm glad they finally updated the age to 45 so insurance will cover it now.

It is looking like the real deal colonoscopy is the path I'm headed toward.

I used colonguard with no issues.

Did you have a Long Limb or just RNY?
