    Anybody here???

Is there anybody here? Anyone want to chat about their feathered friends? I have a Umbrella ****atoo and a Congo Grey Angel J
I have a Double yellow headed amazon, a Congo African Grey, a brown headed parrot, 2 quakers, 3 ****atiels, a sun conure and next month Im getting a B&G macaw and a Military macaw. Nice to meet you. Laurie
Wow Laurie! Thats a menagerie! What fun that must be. Our Congo is only 4 months old so we have him in training to be a really sweet bird. Hope he stays that way. Of all your birds which one is your absolute favorite? Angel J
Thor is 16 years old and I love him to pieces but Bandit my Congo is my baby. He is only 7 months old and is absolutely adorable. He is just starting to talk, he says hello and Love you so far. Oh yes, he also says hello thor. LOL Thor talks up a storm. Thor is my Double Yellow Headed Amazon. He also believes that Im his mate. The last couple of days hes been attempting to build a nest for he and I. LOL All of them make my life so interesting. I cant imagine my life without any one of them. Laurie
I had a sweet quaker but here in PA we can't have them I now have a white fronted amazon. Donna
Are they illegal? Why? Angel J
I have only had birds for the last 2 years ... I wish I had discovered what great companions they are earlier on. Yes I love our lil Congo baby... I cant wait til baby chicken says his first words... They are soo smart! My umbrella is more like a big baby she says a few words but mostly just makes sounds like whines and wants to be loved and snuggled but the grey he is my boy! I read a book that says they talk between 12-18 months so I am going to start really listening around 7 months! I would have never known a bird could be so smart and so emotional! We used to have a blue front amazon that was a real kick in the Pants to... but we lost him to a tragic accident w/ the dogs... Love my birdies! Angel
Yes, they do say that typically they'll start talking about 12 to 18 months but my Bandit, who is 8 months old today, started saying hello around 5 months. He now says, "hello Thor" (Thor is my DYH Zon). "hello mama" "love you" And hes mumbling alot but I cant make out what hes saying yet. Talk to your baby constantly. Talk to them as though they were a child. That way they really pick up language. If you only say things like, "Polly want a cracker" thats all they'll learn to say. But if you treat them like they're a real family member thats the language and inflections that they learn. My Thor says first thing in the morning when I uncover him, "good morning baby, I love you, want a cup of coffee?" its the cutest thing to hear first thing in the morning. LOL Laurie
Hi, this board is pretty slow but I pop in once in a while to see if anything is going on. I have an umbrella ****atoo Allie,a bare eyed ****atoo Peaches,a sun conure Sunshine, a jenday conure Jen,a normal green Quaker Pickles, and a peach faced/fischers love bird Mango. The biggest talker and the clown of the bunch is my Bare eyed Peaches. She is a hoot!! She uses words appropriately. She says Chris come take your medicine (that's my son) It's time for bed, go to bed, bye bye baby I love you, Hello baby, bad bird, pretty wings, go potty allie, hello pickle pickle, wanna take a bath, wow she says all kinds of stuff. She is a really hyper bird. Allie talks but more winey squeaky talk, Pickles talks when he feels like it and whistles the Andy griffith song. The conures are the newest members of the family, I got them I think in 04. Peaches is the oldest and she's almost 6. They are messy but so entertaining. Such great personalities, they are awesome! Hi! I just found this board. Currently I have two annoying parakeets. I am planning (saving) to get an African Grey soon. I previously owned a nanday conure, a lilac-crowned amazon, and a blue streaked lory. The blue streak was so much fun - he was like a monkey with wings. I want a bird with real personality (like my blue streak) but also one that is a great talker. I have always wanted an African Grey - but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to have them.
We got our Grey after losing the Amazon. I too always wanted a Congo Grey... I seen a discovery channel about a bird named Einenstein that was soooo smart! I was hooked ! Ours is just a baby he is 4 1/2 months so he does not talk yet. But he is trying! We got him out of the paper for 600.00 I had bought a Timneh for 300.00 and he was skittish and sketchy because the people who had him were afraid of him so we hand tamed him and he was really sweet! But a friend of mine begged and pleaded for him so he went to his forever home. Keep saving they are soooo worth it! Angel J
Hi Sandra! Thanks for the Grey link! I spoil my tweeties too. They deserve it. I cant wait til lil chicken starts talking. I swear he said I love you the other day but I cant be sure... but it sure sounded like it. Babys first words. Love that! Hugs to you!
Angel, I have a white fronted amazon named Alex. I used to own an Grey and other feathered friends. I just love birds. Donna
Hi Donna We had a Blue front until we had a thanksgiving tragedy... We lost our chicken. We have a African Grey now in his place.. he is just a baby but gosh darn I miss that amazon! He was hubbys boy but I had fun with him too. I never even knew they had white fronts but I bet Alex is a beauty! Amazons are so unique and great birdie friends . Angel J
Just found this forum! I have a lovely bright yellow lutino parakeet named Sunny She is a sweetie, always wanting head scratches and loves to nibble me. I am currently interested in getting a Green-cheeked conure. I have to save up for him, cause the boyfriend won't let me put him on the credit card hahaha! Learning all I can about conures, I have had ****atiels before, and took care of a mitred conure for a while, but haven't had a "real" parrot before looking forward to getting to know him. Jaze
Hello all, I came here a few times but nobody was ever here. Glad to see this post. I have a house for of birds mostly rescue birds. We started out with a pair of ****atiels that were being harassed by their owners. My son was going to turn them in to the humane society so they gave them to him. Then, they started to have babies and we sold a few and bought mates for some of the babies and now we have babies that we sell to the pet store every once in a while. We have 8 pairs that are producing babies. Then 5yrs ago we adopted a 20 yrs old goffin ****atoo. He was a frighten little boy. When I picked up a broom to sweep around his cages he would run to the back and his would poop out of his head. Now he jumps on my shoulder when I sweep. He has some company we also another pair of Goffins that were given to us. We were told that they were very noisy, Well of course they were, birds mimic they owners and the former one would always scream at them so the birds did the same. Then we decided to try and breed some parrots. So we have a pair of eclectus’ and a pair of orange winged amazons. WE ARE NUTS I KNOW. It was my husbands empty “NEST” syndrome.
Hi Barbara! Good to see you! Wow you are amazing. Thats a lot of wonderful birds! Never quiet there I bet. I love the sounds of birds! They fill a home with Love and character. Even when them 'Too's are screaming there little spoiled hearts out. My neighbors say my house is like Mutual of Omaha. You never know what you are going to hear when you walk by. I would not have it any other way ! We are tring to find a Amazon. My hubby lost his Blue Front and he really misses him. I love My U2 and My Congo Baby... Those Amazons are such hams... I love them. Angel J
Just found this board myself! I have a male eclectus, he's about 13, and a little yellow lovebird, and she is about 12. My sweeties
