I had lab work done and went to my surgeon today and iron level went from 25 to a 17 in 6 months.  He has recomended a colonoscopy does that seem normal to yall? By then way I am 18 months out.

Okay, public service announcement: WHICH iron level?  It's not just you, but I notice everyone say "my iron level went from ___ to ___" and I really have no clue what they are talkin' about!

Serum iron? Ferritin?

I'm assuming ferritin?

I guess your surgeon thinks that you must be losing blood from your colon and that is why your iron stores are dropping.  I wouldn't say that I necessarily agree based on just that alone, but perhaps you discussed something else during the appointment that made him think this.  Why didn't you ask why he was ordering a colonoscopy while you were there?

I did ask and got a good answer. He had a patient about my age with same problem and he did one and she was bleeding from the right side of her colon which he says was no symptoms because the body reabsorbed the blood so he wants to be safe than sorry I am 40 he says it is time.
