8 months out. Is it ok to perm my hair now?

I am now at 8 months out and am in need of a perm in my hair. I did not have much hair loss. I was wondering if it has been long enough to have a perm. Thanks for your help.

Is there a reason you couldn't get a perm before now? I've never heard of a restriction on chemical hair treatments post op.

They suggest that you not do chemical type things at first because of the hair loss some people and it could make it worse.

Do you have a hair person you can trust? If so, ask them to check out your hair and give you an opinion on how healthy (or not) it is. I went back to coloring my hair probably 3 months after surgery and was fine. My hairdresser just gave me some extra conditioning treatments because now I have really dry hair.

I never stopped coloring my hair. I did have some hair loss but there was no way I was going to stop coloring. I did use Nioxin for about a year and that did help some -- not so much with falling out but helped with regrowth.
