Question about our staples
As I understood we have rows and rows of staples in at least 5 points - anastomoses and stomach . . .do they show up on x-rays? For instance at airport screenings?
And is there any danger of one of them dislodging in time and travelling like a needle through our digestive system/abdominal cavity?
I am not talking about leaks - but long term dangers from these foreign bodies inside.
I could not find any resources discussing this issue.

The staples are made of nonreactive metal. They won't travel anywhere as they are firmly embedded in the wall of the stomach or intestine, and then tissue also heals over them. They will not set off the metal detectors at the airport.
Now if you have a big metal foreign body, like a joint replacement, you might as well let the airport screener know about it before you go through that machine, because you're going to set it off.
