Question regarding lab orders

I think the double checking is a great idea.  Since I've had some run and not others, do you think I would be able to just go in and have those run that were not ordered the first time?  Or is it an all or nothing proposition?  Can you tell I'm a little unfamiliar with how the labs work?

I'm doing well...down 49 pounds since July.  I am not planning a trip back to CA, but it sure would be a nice reason for a vacation!!

Gail, do you ever have trouble getting the labs?  As in Dr. K. doesn't feel you need them?  Someone posted below me on this thread saying that she couldn't get labs.  Just wondered, as I had no difficulty whatsoever....

For some reason, I don 't think he does them other than annually, but he'll forward the orders if you ask. I've not had a problem.

If you know what tests you want, and there are numerous resources to get that list on FB, you can give that list to your PCP and ask them to order them all. Be sure you also supply the diagnoses codes so that all the tests will be covered. You may still have some that are not covered by your health plan so check that out so you don't have any surprises.

Once you have the full list, just ask your PCP to make it a standing order so you can have it drawn every quarter.

Your surgeon in another State can also fax the order to you or directly to the lab.

Good luck. Oh, and as an indicator, if they are not drawing 15-18 vials of blood you don't have enough tests ordered.

I did that, Tina, but my PCP didn't order them all for some reason, and I didn't know it until I got the results back.  I did get the order from Dr. K's office this morning, so, even though some of them were done, I think I will go back and have them run the ones that haven't been done, so I have a complete list.

I think they did about 9 the first draw, so I should have known then.

Thanks,
Susan

Hey Susan,
I just got an email from Dr. K. after I requested lab orders, ( I'm about 4 months out) and he told me he only orders them, "when indicated". All the vets say we should have them done quarterly for at least the first year.
My question is, "How did you even get him to order any labs for you?"

I'm doing great....as far as I can tell, but I would like to know lab wise too!

I just emailed the office and asked for them, and got them within hours.
