Hi I had the VS two years ago with the intention of getting the DS.  Dr Higga wanted the DS done in two parts. That being said my insurance only payed for the VS but my husbands would have stepped in on the second surgery and payed 80% for  the DS. Since my surgery my husband has medically retired. Now I am wondering the cost? Thanks all. Dolly

Open DS: $8650.00
Lap DS: $9525.00
Sleeve: $2000.00

REVISIONS:
Revision - Lap Band to DS: $8650.00
Revision - RNY, VBG, Fobi Pouch, or other unknow bariactric procedure to DS: $11,000.00
(I was told that the $4,000.00 program fee is included in this $11,000.00 fee)
On my paperwork, The hospital fee (I think it was for a 4 day stay) was $17,500.00)))))

Even having a sleeve already, expect to pay just as much if not more for what is now considered a revision. Those are the risks one takes when lured to get a DS in two parts. Twice the cost, twice the recovery, twice the risk. In these days and times, we cannot guarantee we will still be covered when we're ready for the second part. BTW - I never heard of Dr. Higga. I presume he doesn't do DS at all, and wanted to keep you as a patient.
