I have Highmark BC/BS insurance and revisions from RNY to DS are approved. I have TriCare as secondary insurance. What is need to know is.......what about all the travel expense, hotels, meals, etc. is any of this covered by insurance? Also, what about the extra fees the CA Surgeons charge for followup care is this covered by insurance? Would like to hear from anyone who has had their insurance cover these expenses and how you did it. Thanks.

I just want to give you a heads up that TriCare does not cover DS yet, so don't expect much help from them.

To answer your questions about travel expenses and such, though, I recommend just calling Highmark and see what they say.

Thanks Val, I do know since Tricare is secondary they will cover parts of the hospital costs. They will also help with travel expenses to see a specialist, but not sure if this is covered for WLS!  I will call Highmark BC/BS and see what they say.
