Scared but excited at the same time.I'm hoping for a date for surgery soon.I know I made the right decision to have it done.I'm 48years old and have been on a diet over half my life.Good luck to all.

Topic: Graduate in December!!
Hi everyone,
I live in Tennessee.
I have been blessed to be able to attend my LPN school. Only 24 of us were chosen out of 300 applications. Because of the strict grading system only 17 of us remain.

We graduate in December. I am looking to understand the pay scale system for LPN.
I love nursing, I know its what Im suppose to do. So far after all my clinicals it doesnt really matter what type of nursing I am doing, I love it all.

Because I am not particular about the area of nursing the next step for me is to see what field will give me the most $$ for my time.

I have a two year prenursing degree in management, and now I will be LPN. (not sure if my education will do anything for payscale..but just put that in for information to those of you who may reply)
I do not have any working experience as a nurse. Was certified CNA, worked with level 1 Mentally Handicapped in a group home setting for about six months.

Can anyone help me understand about the pay scale for different positions and what to ask for when I do start looking.

Thank you

Topic: RE: LPN to BSN ?
Hi I'm also a LPN for 20 yrs now and have a very good friend that got her RN that way it is very costly and when it comes time to take your test usually CLEP exams at the closest center you have to register and pay for those also which if i remember right they were like $200 each it goes by the # of credit hours the course you are testing out of is,usually most all of them are 3 credits except like anatomy or microbiology are 4-5. I tried doing it but i'm not displined enough to make myself study and i couldnt afford to pay their fees plus the testing fee and clinicals for the weekend were(1999) $500 some do well though those that have 10+ years experience Good luck in what you decide to do! Topic: LPN to BSN ?
I'm wondering if anyone knows anyone who has completed one of those an LPN to BSN on line courses. I get the post cards in my mail all the time and I have been thinking about doing it but it's expensive and I don't know anyone who has ever actually done it. I would like to ask their opinion before I decide.

Topic: LONGING TO BE! :)
Hello, My name is Shari and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I had the lap band surgery Feb 2, 2006, gall bladder surgery July 13, 2006 and most recently Feb 2, 2007 had a diaphgragmatic hernia. Needless to say my lap band has been removed due to incarcerated stoma*****hest cavity so much of my stomach was not viable that my doctor gave me a vertical sleeve. I have lost a total of 75lbs. On the lap band I lost 50lbs and so far on hte vertical sleeve 25lbs. I would love to lose 50 to 60 more pounds. My title longing to be means I am currently working in the accounting field as a Senior payroll specialist. I am longing to be a LPN and maybe go on to become an RN. I was scheduled to start classes this July M-Th from 4:30pm until 9:30 pm I had all my requirements until they made a recent change on have to take the TEAS test. Due to my illness I did not have time to meet the deadline and have to wait another year in order to start LPN school. I am so glad I happened to fine this message board and hope to hear from someone about their experiences in nursing. Forgot to mentioned I am 45yrs old married with a 17yr old daughter. I am so glad I have lost weight and I don't feel like I am to hold to start a second career. I think GOD had a plan for me to heal myself first before learning how to heal others. My daughter is interested in Nursing as well she wants to become a foresic nurse. I hope this board post more and share their weight lost as well as nursing experiences! Good luck to us all Shari J. Topic: What do I do if...
My two concerns as a new employee of a nursing home are: 1.Chest pain. 2.Respiratory distress. I wonder if anyone out there would like to tackle the following scenarios. Scenario A. You are the charge nurse (lpn), at the rehab unit of a nursing home. You are athe nursing station and the alarm goes of for room 25.You go to the room and the resident says he is experiencing very bad chest pain. You are alone. What should the LPN do? Scenario B. You respond to a resident that says he cannot breathe. The resident is sitting up and gasping for air. He has no order for any respiratory med. There is no order for nebulizer either. What should the LPN do? Was this comment helpful? Yes / No Reply - Report abuse
