Magnesium deficiency

Has anyone  here had any experience with magnesium deficiency after bypass? I am six years out and am experiencing some alarming neurological symptoms. In researching it, I've read that magnesium deficiency can cause muscle twitches and spasms. Haven't been to my doctor yet, but I've already had experience with severe anemia and B-12 deficiency last year, which has now been resolved through shots and lots of supplements. Actually, I'm hoping it is a magnesium deficiency - a lot better than the diseases that cause these symptoms!

Lori, I have the sleeve but wanted to comment because I was found to have low magnesium at my 3 month follow up.  In hindsight, I think I have had it for years.  I would get muscle twitching/charley-horse type things on a regular basis.  This seemed to start years ago after a major surgery where nerves were cut.  And, since the charley horses/twitches were mostly in that same area, my docs never seemed all that worried about it.

Anyway, after my magnesium was found to be low, I started taking a magnesium supplement and I haven't had another twitch/charley horse.

Good luck!
