OT - Stupid Skin!
So once again my face is swollen and covered in hives...and I hate it..alot...
I have incredibly fair, sensitive skin and am assuming this happened because of a new or old cosmetic I used. This isnt the first time its happened though
For example I used Proactive once and my face was swollen and had hives for a week and a half. But its not just my face that does this. I have attatched a picture of the sunburn I received after going to a fair for 2 hours. I was wearing sunscreen while we were there and a sweater as well, but this is what wasnt covered. ..ended up with second degree burns in the end. Luckily no scaring though.
Just wanted to know if this happens to anyone else...

I have a doctors appointment on Friday and I am hoping she will refer me to a dermatologist.
This is an old pic by the way. The problem right now is on my face..hives etc. This is picture is from 2 years ago (just needed a visual example of the problems I have). I haven't had anything this bad since but I also wear alot of long sleeves in the summer (sucks though)
I am going hunting for 100spf..the highest I have found so far was 60...
Thanks
Erin

Hmmm - we may have something in common, not sure.
I too have incredibly fair skin, prone to sunburns etc.
I am also experiencing what seems to be a long-term allergic skin reaction, but mine's on my belly, in the area where my Heparin shots went in post-surgery.
It's extremely itchy, just like hives, but not circular-blotchy like hives.
It's a fine rash, in largish patches, that's slightly raised.
It's mildly itchy all of the time, but flares up twice or three times day, where I could tear my skin off.
I was unable to get a family physican's appointment until next week (making it two weeks it's been going on) but I am seeing my surgeon for my three-week post-op checkup on Friday - maybe he has an idea.
Neither antifungal nor antibacterial nor hydrocortisone ointments have any effect. Anti-itch creams are helping temporarily.
Dunno if any of this helps you. Have you tried taking a dissolving Claritin, maybe?
If it's allergic, that might help.
